Another photograph of the beautiful Victoria crowned pigeon and an image I am most proud of!
Kodak, I am pleased with your spontaneous decision to make a nice depth-of-field. <3
Another picture from the bird park, and one I really like! :> This guy, like Ike the Abyssinian hornbill (see previous upload), wasn't too cautious with humans and didn't mind coming up to the fence, but wasn't too fond of actual contact, although he tolerated my brief petting (such soft feathers!). These are one of the most entrancing birds I have ever seen with their marvelous coloration and crest, so you can imagine that I hung around its exhibit for a while, just watching in awe!
Victoria crowned pigeons are very large pigeons that inhabit New Guinea and are named after Queen Victoria (a very distant relative of mine, actually). They are social, omnivorous (they eat invertebrates in addition to fruits and foliage) birds with a plethora of interesting facts; I highly advise doing some research on these guys! As much as I'd love to share, I'm too damned lazy to type it all up, ha ha...
To my knowledge, this specimen is a male; I couldn't find much info, but I believe the males are blue, and the females are more grayish in tone.
